Introducing the newest addition to our Downlight Line

Direct-to-Ceiling Downlights 

We are excited to introduce the newest addition to the Kichler® Downlight offering – Direct-to-Ceiling (DtC) downlights. The line is inspired by the trend to recess lights back into the ceiling for reduced glare, as well as the need for easy installation and placement flexibility. This Direct-to-Ceiling collection solves for an array of ceiling light needs - from general illumination to accent lighting.

The DtC line is comprised of 3 core platforms:

• Slim
• Recessed – including a Mini-Recessed
• Gimbal – including a Mini-Gimbal

Each of these platforms has two important features in common:

• Remote/Tethered Driver – Having the driver separate yet connected not only allows for the fixtures to be ultra-sleek in terms of size but allows for greater fixture placement throughout a ceiling. Because there is no need for a separate, mounted J-box, the fixtures can be installed just about anywhere Romex can reach with little worry of joists or HVAC causing disruption in a pattern.
• Spring Clips – With a hole cut, and the tethered driver wired and placed where desired, the next step is to let the spring clips do the work. Line them up with the hole and let them secure the fixture to the drywall. No screws, no twisting, no extra steps – just snap in and go.

What does this mean? – For the installer, it’s all about ease: establish ceiling hole, wire, snap. For a builder, developer or property owner, it’s the look of the fixture plus the look it ultimately creates.

From there, each platform offers its own unique appeal:

Slim: Available in 3”, 4”, 5”, 6” sizes, this line is true to its name with an ultra-slim trim that sits near-flush to the ceiling. It is dimmable and equipped with Edge-lit technology for low glare and a uniformly lit appearance. Optional trim accessories are also available in a variety of finishes.

Recessed: This downlight is designed with a baffled trim that sits up inside the ceiling to better reduce glare. These are available in 4” and 6” square and round shapes, plus a 2” mini round. Decorative trim ring accessories are also available for 4” and 6” Round fixtures.

Gimbal: The Gimbal, can rotate 360 degrees with a 30-degree max tilt to offer directional lighting for architectural accents, wall features and artwork. Available in 4” and 6” as well as a 2” Mini, this line is ideal for installation in drywall, drop or sloped ceilings.
